This week’s police blotter: Student wanted by Idaho police arrested

Monday, Feb. 18, 2:41 p.m.: At an initiated traffic stop, a 56-year-old male non-student was arrested for having an outside warrant and failure to maintain financial responsibility. The man was wanted by the Collin County Sheriff’s Department.

3:44 p.m.: A suicidal person was reported at Kerr Hall. UNT police officers and Denton County MHMR, mental health services, responded to the situation. The individual was referred for counseling services.

Tuesday, 3:34 p.m.: A 20-year-old student turned himself in to the UNT police after a warrant for purchasing and furnishing alcohol to a minor was issued. The male student was arrested and taken to the Denton County jail.

9:21 p.m.: UNT police officers responded to a pulled fire alarm at the Physical Education Building on UNT’s campus. Upon arrival, the police determined the alarm had been falsely pulled. The police contacted a female non-student, who was wanted by the Denton PD, arrested her and took her to the Denton County jail.

Thursday, 2:46 a.m.: A UNT police officer responded to a fight that was in progress between non-students who were 22-years-old and 21-years-old. One of the fighters was publically intoxicated. The officer arrested the intoxicated man and took him to the Denton County jail. The other man was issued a municipal citation for disorderly conduct and was released from the scene.

9:04 a.m.: An Idaho county sheriff’s department requested the UNT police department’s assistance in locating a wanted suspect. A 28-year-old male student was contacted, arrested and taken to the Denton County jail. His extradition to Idaho is pending.

3:51 p.m.: A complaint was filed from the Pohl Recreation Center regarding student misconduct. An officer responded and issued a municipal citation for assault by contact. He was also referred to the center for student rights and responsibilities.
